How Much Does a Custom Playroom Cost?

Every Wild Child playroom is different, and your total investment will depend on the size of your space, the scope of your design and the active-play elements you choose to include.

Our design and project management fees start at $3,500 for an E-Design active play zone, $6,500 for a full-room E-Design and $10,000 for our full-service Go Wild experience. Products, contractor costs and other project expenses are separate from our design fees. Contractor costs vary significantly by market and project scope.

What does a playroom designer do?
A playroom designer considers how your kids play, move and grow, then creates a space designed around those needs. Wild Child’s ASID designers specialize in playroom design, thoughtfully considering safety, developmental needs, layout and flow alongside the overall look and feel of the space. We incorporate everything from climbing walls, swings and foam pits to creative zones, furnishings and finishes to create a purposeful playroom that fits beautifully into your home and can grow with your kids.

For children with neurodiverse needs or those working with an occupational therapist, physical therapist or speech-language pathologist, we can partner with their therapists to incorporate their recommendations into the design. The result is a playroom created specifically for your child, your family and the way they play.

Do you source products outside of your online shop?
Yes! For our design clients, we source a wide range of products beyond those available in our online shop. The shop features many of our favorite playroom products, but every Wild Child design is customized to the family, space and project. We source additional products, furnishings and custom elements as needed to bring each design to life.

What are the playroom zones included in your designs?

We believe in creating zoned play spaces that reflect the interests of each client family. Obviously, these vary based on the size and budget of the space. Typical playroom zones may include:

• Active or gross motor play areas, including swings, climbing walls, monkey bars and foam pits
• Imaginative play, such as dress-up, a playhouse, fort or play kitchen
• Performing arts, including a stage, music or theater
• Maker spaces for arts, crafts, building and tinkering
• Calm or reading nooks
• Sensory spaces tailored to the individual needs of the child
• Storage and organization
• Seating, including the modular soft seating we love

Can you incorporate sensory needs into a playroom design?

Absolutely. Every child plays and regulates differently, and we can incorporate sensory and active-play elements based on your child's individual needs. For children working with an occupational therapist, physical therapist or speech-language pathologist, we're happy to collaborate with their therapy team and incorporate their recommendations into the design.

Do you design playrooms outside Connecticut and Texas?
Yes. E-Design is available anywhere; Go Wild is also available outside of our local markets with travel fees.

What ages do you design playrooms for?
We design playrooms for all ages, from babies to teens! Custom designed playrooms are an investment so we design them to grow with kids. You can read more about our approach here.

Yes! We are ASID interior designers by trade and include these items in our full service and full room e-Design options.
