Design Assistant – Wild Child

Location: Fairfield County, CT (hybrid: work from home + client sites + Wild Child team onsite)
Type: Part-time, flexible hours (based on project needs)

About Wild Child

Wild Child is a high-end playroom design studio specializing in creating purposeful, fun, and developmentally enriching spaces for children. We believe play is essential for growth, emotional regulation, and family connection — and our designs reflect that philosophy.

Role Overview

We’re seeking a flexible, multi-talented Design Assistant to join our team. This role is dynamic and will vary week-to-week depending on project needs. You’ll support our designers with everything from sourcing and client installations to errands and behind-the-scenes coordination.

If you love design, are energized by kids and child development, and enjoy variety in your work, this could be the perfect role for you.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with client installations: setting up playroom furniture, styling accessories, and organizing spaces.

  • Run errands such as delivering samples to clients, returning items, or sourcing last-minute needs.

  • Support the team with design tasks: material sourcing, mood boards, shopping lists, and vendor coordination.

  • Help with administrative tasks as needed (ordering, scheduling deliveries, tracking returns).

  • Collaborate with a small, creative team that values flexibility and hands-on support.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong interest in kids, child development, and design (playroom/kid-focused experience is a plus).

  • Flexible and comfortable with shifting priorities — no week looks the same.

  • A natural problem solver who can wear many hats.

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.

  • Able to lift/move items during installations.

  • Based in Fairfield County, CT, with reliable transportation.

Schedule & Commitment

  • Hours will vary depending on project needs — some weeks may be busier than others. Typically 6 - 15 hours per week with room to grow if interested in taking on more!

  • Must be available for occasional onsite client installations and team days

Compensation

This role is hourly and super flexible — some weeks will be busier than others, depending on what projects we have going on. The pay range is $25–$35/hour based on experience, with room to grow as you take on more responsibility.

Why Join Wild Child?

This is an exciting opportunity to get hands-on experience in a fast-growing niche design studio. You’ll work closely with our founders and creative team, gain exposure to both the design and child development worlds, and play a meaningful role in creating spaces that truly impact families’ lives.
